Role:
Game design, cellular automata coding, controls

Programs:
Flash (Action Script 3.0), Photoshop

High Concept:
Top Down mouse courser controlled strategy scroller.

Time:
Completed in 3 months.
Concept:

The Concept of this game comes from the way the actual medicine Penicillin works, it weakens the outer wall of bacteria and destroys it, yet in to concentrated amounts it can harm the body it is supposed to rescue. The game area is a field of cells contaminated by bacteria, all cells communicate constantly which each other, a cellular automata, if the majority of adjacent cells is healed so will the cell start to heal it self, if the majority is infected so will the cell in the middle be infected. The key of this game is to handle resources and manage timing of the infection. The aim is to get through the field of cells to the end and eliminate the virus.

Game Play:

Penicillin is embodied by small particles and follows the mouse cursor like a swarm, clicking down and dragging will shoot one of the particles in the direction indicated. In this game everything communicates which each other and the Player has to learn to understand the effects his actions have. As example staying too long in a healed cell will turn it ill, it will produce a certain number of penicillin particles, but eventually turn sick and spawn a new bacteria, infecting all cells adjacent to it.
Game Design:

Balance, the key word this game was design around. As everything gets information from everywhere all actions have to be accounted for. The player as only active form of intervention in this war inside the body needs to understand that he can aid the healing, yet cannot heal himself, all he can do is destroy. To master the balance of targeted destruction in order to help is the unique element of this game.
