Time: Completed in 3 months. |
Concept:
Ytivarg, the reverse of the word Gravity is a perfect reflection of the concept of this game. The player can reverse Gravity. This power is to be used to get past many obstacles such as swinging hammers, pits of spikes and enemies. The Player has no offensive skills and has to use his wit to overcome his enemies, by running past them, luring them into a trap or just outsmart them |
Game Play:
The controls for this game are quite simple as the player has to react fast to his environment. Arrow keys or WASD for movement, double tapping directional keys to make a dash in the corresponding direction, and finally Space Bar to reverse Gravity. The literal twist in this mechanic is that everything else is effected by this reversal, swinging axes will change direction and go upwards, blocks or part of the floor will suddenly fall out of place and enemies fly through the air uncontrolled. |
Game Design:
The unique identity of this game comes with the way it deals with enemies. In order to progress the player has to eliminate a certain amount of enemies, this can only be achieved by learning their patterns and luring them into one of their own traps. This game is designed around the idea of death, and the scoreboard in the end shows how often you died. We had great success at the end of Year show at London College of Communication seeing all sorts of Game Industry personal try to beat each others death count. |
